OUR PRINCIPLES
身土不二
Body and land are inseparable. To care for the soil is to care for the body that will eat from it.
shindo-fuji — the body and the land are one.
Planetary Health
The health of people and animals is bound to the health of the planet. Taking them as one whole, we approach society, economy and ecosystems together.
planetary health — the health of people, animals and the planet, as one.
THE METHOD
Rice, people, and all living things grow together in the paddy.
お米も人も生き物も みんな田んぼで育つ
一
Build the soil土づくり
Organic fertilizer (fermented chicken manure), decomposed straw, oyster shell and fossil shell return the minerals of mountain and sea to the paddy — the bounty of mountain and sea, in harmony.
二
Harness the microbes (BS)微生物(BS)を利用する
Natto bacillus, lactic acid bacteria, natural yeasts. The life within the soil grows the rice — tiny giants, unseen by the eye.
三
Care for the farmland and water農地と水を守る
Drawing on the underground waters of the Omoi River, we grow without relying on pesticides or chemical fertilizers. The paddy is the matchmaker between mountain and sea.
四
Pass it forward未来へ繋げる
To school lunches, to homes, and overseas. Mineral-rich rice builds the body. Welcome to the world of planetary health.

Koshihikari Brown Rice No fertilizer, no pesticides (natural farming)
玄米コシヒカリ
Sweet and pleasantly sticky — the benchmark of Japanese rice, with flavor that deepens as you chew.
①For white rice, the weight is about 10% less than brown rice. e.g. 10kg brown rice → 9kg, 30kg → 27kg
②Because no pesticides are used, some spotted grains (dark blemishes) may be mixed in. They do not affect health or taste.
③For the best flavor, please use white rice within one month of milling. This does not apply to brown rice.
④So that you can enjoy it at its best, we mill the rice as close to delivery as possible.
⑤If you would like broken rice or rice bran, please ask.
Natural Farming
Natural farming is a method that uses no fertilizers or pesticides whatsoever. It draws the most it can from wholly natural energies — sun, water, rice straw, plants and animals, humus and microorganisms — with only minimal human intervention. Naturally, yields are not high: about half those of conventional farming. Rain dissolves minerals from the mountains’ many kinds of rock and humus, and this mineral-rich water travels through rivers, groundwater and irrigation channels, nourishes rice, plants and animals in the paddy, and returns to the sea, the source of all life. To eat this natural dynamism is to eat life itself. We are committed to expanding and stabilizing natural farming over the coming decades.
Organic Farming
Organic farming is a method of agricultural production that ① uses no chemical fertilizers or chemical pesticides, ② uses no genetic modification technology, and ③ reduces environmental impact as far as possible. We use fermented chicken manure, oyster shell, fossil shell and our own cultured solutions (yeast, lactic acid bacteria and natto bacillus). Our agricultural products currently hold Organic JAS certification.
